Sometimes, I Just need a Break, a moment to forget the world.

sarah, October 3, 2025

I’m tired. So tired. Not the kind of tired a good night’s sleep can fix, or a day off exercise. But the kind of tired that creeps into your bones, The kind that builds slowly, day after day, until you feel like you can’t escape it.

It’s the tired that grows as you attempt to juggle everything life throws at you.

The juggle of work life balance.

Housework, appointments, work, all the invisible emotional labour no one sees but we all carry anyway.

Sometimes, I just want a break.

A break from the dramas of life, from the never-ending cycle of laundry and dishes, from the heartbreak of watching my daughter deal with epilepsy, from being a family juggling being neurodivergent in a world that often doesn’t support them, from the numbness I feel dealing with it all.

From big life decisions. From adulting.

Just for a moment, I want to stop without immediately having to start again.

I don’t want every noise to put my body in a perpetual panic.

It doesn’t mean I don’t love my life. I am so blessed, with an amazing family. I live in the best state in the best country.

We have an amazing medical system to support us, and in that I am so grateful.

But I can be grateful and still be human.

Sometimes, being human means reaching your limit and needing to step back, even for a few precious minutes, to fill your own cup but it’s been so long I don’t even think I know how to do it anymore.

For me writing is the only way I can stop and remind myself, it’s okay to feel tired. It’s okay to want a break. It’s okay to not be okay. You don’t have to be strong all the time.

Here’s to small pauses, journaling, and dreaming of lighter brighter days ahead.
