Two Weeks.

sarah, September 18, 2025September 18, 2025

Imagine that’s all you had.

Two weeks from hearing the words, “It’s cancer… it’s terminal,” to saying goodbye.

One moment she was living life, making plans, putting off that phone call, leaving jobs unfinished, thinking there’d be time.

Tomorrow.

But then, there wasn’t.

Time is our most precious resource, and yet we waste it.

We let fear hold us back.

We wait for the “right” moment that never comes.

We scroll. We delay. We let silence stretch too long between us and the people who matter most.

If you knew you only had two weeks left, would you still be doing the same things?

Would you let resentment build?

Would you stay mad?

Would you wait for permission to chase your dreams?

Or would you:

Call the person you miss?

Forgive or ask to be forgiven?

Get up early to watch the sunrise, and stay up late to soak in the sunset?

This hits me differently now than when I used to hear stories like hers.

Because I came close to becoming one.

Four years ago, I was unknowingly living with two serious heart conditions: ventricular bigeminy and cardiomyopathy. I was told I had three years left if the heart surgery wasn’t successful.

It wasn’t two weeks.

But it was a moment that shattered everything.

Thankfully, I was given a second chance.

Thanks to a gifted surgeon, time, and treatment, I now have a normal life expectancy.

But the fear, the ache of wondering if I’d watch my children grow up, never really leaves you.

It changes you.

The truth is, no one knows how long they have.

We all live like we have forever.

We say “someday,” “next year,” “when the timing’s better.”

But life doesn’t wait.

Time is precious.

Moments and memories matter.

That’s what “two weeks” means to me now.

So take this as your wake-up call.

Stop waiting.

Say the things.

Do the things.

Let the rest go.

Say yes to the road trip.

Say yes to kindness, to connection, to your dreams.

Because whether you have 50 years or 50 days, you owe it to yourself to live like every moment matters because it does.

So…

What would you do if you had two weeks?

What needs to be said?

What needs to be done?

What needs to be let go?

More importantly…

What are you waiting for?

You are still here.

You still have time.

Start now.

Savour the sunrises.

Embrace the early wake-ups.

Say “I love you.”

Be grateful.

Take nothing for granted.

Because life is unpredictable,

but it is breathtakingly beautiful

when we choose to live it fully.
